Professor & Head

Dr. Sarbjeet Sharma did MBBS (1986) and MD (1992) in Microbiology from Government Medical College, Amritsar. Presently, she is Professor and Head of Microbiology at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar.

She has completed Masters in Hospital Administration (NIH & FW, New Delhi) as well as certifications of Master Trainer in Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTI, Banglore), and the COVID19 RTPCR process (PGIMER, Chandigarh), for which she is a Nodal Officer.

Besides numerous punblications, Dr. Sharma has presented her research at various international forums including ICAAC 2012 (USA), GAMC 2017 (Canada), ICVV 2018 (Japan) and IUSTI 2019 (Canada). She is an active member of the Hospital Infection Control Society of India, the American Society of Microbiology, and the International Society of Infectious Diseases.

She has special interest and expertise in HIV, Tuberculosis and COVID19, among other notable viral and bacterial diseases.

Professor

Dr Poonam Sharma did her MBBS (1999) from GMC Amritsar and MD (2006) in Microbiology from AFMC PUNE. She stood first in Pune university in her MD exam. She joined the faculty at SGRD Amritsar in 2007. At present she is working as Professor in the department of Microbiology and is looking after the Molecular biology section.

She is a life member of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists. She has participated in various workshops on Molecular biology, Bioethics and Medical education. She has participated in regional, national conferences and has presented research papers in them. Her research paper was selected under best paper category in zonal conference in 2005 and in national conference in 2006. She has written 22 articles in various national & international journals.

 She won first prize in Grand Quiz in 3rd National workshop on Hospital Infection Control held at JIPMER, Pondicherry in February 2019.

Her main areas of interest are Molecular Biology, Hospital infection control and Antimicrobial resistance.

Professor

Dr Manmeet Gill did MBBS from SRTR Medical College, Ambajogai, Maharashtra and MD in Microbiology from sgrduhs where she is presently Professor of Microbiology. She is Incharge of the Bacteriology Lab of the department.

She has done Revised Basic Workshop and ATCOM module training and CISP at CMC Ludhiana and has also completed Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME) in 2016. She won the best poster paper award for presenting her research findings in NCPE 2018 at SGRD. Currently she is pursuing the FAIMER fellowship. She is a nominated member of the steering committee of UNESCO Bioethics (Haifa) at SGRDUHS, Amritsar.

She has publications in both National as well as International journals. She is a member of Curriculum committee, Medical Education Unit, Thesis screening committee of the Institute and is Nodal officer for MSc in Microbiology.

She has special interest in Quality assurance in her field of Microbiology and has completed training program in QMS & Internal audit in Medical Labs (2014) and Internal Counsellor program on NABH Standards (2016).

 

Associate Professor

Dr. Pavneet Kaur passed MBBS (2001) from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University and stood 1st in MD (2014) in Microbiology from sgrduhs. Presently she is Associate Professor of Microbiology and Incharge of the Mycology section.

She was selected for and completed her PGI-ICMR-WHO National Training Course in Medical Mycology at PGIMER, Chandigarh in 2017. She has attended Workshop on Art and Science of Paper Writing, Workshop on Clinical Research Methodology, CME cum Workshop on Competency Based Medical Education, CISP Workshop and Hands-on Workshop on Skill Lab Made Easy.

Dr Pavneet has attended one international, many national and regional Conferences. She was scientific session secretary of MICROCON NW 2016. She has three International and many national publications in indexed journals and has guided several postgraduates in research work. She is a life member of Indian Medical Association.

She has special interest in the field of mycology.

 

Associate Professor

Dr. Charanjeev Kaur did MBBS (1994) from Govt Medical College Patiala and MD (2014) in Microbiology from sgrduhs. Presently she is Associate Professor in Microbiology.

She has undertaken training in Quality management systems and Internal audit in medical laboratories.

Dr Charanjeev has attended 10 regional and North West chapter conferences of Microbiology and has 3 national and 1 international publications in indexed journals.

Her field of interest is virology and infection control
