Professor & Head

Dr. Deepinder Kaur did her MBBS (1994) and MD (2000) in Physiology from GMC Amritsar. She is presently Professor & Head of Physiology at SGRD.

She worked for one year in Neurology at GMC Amritsar. She has done IAP-BLS Provider Course, Basic Course in Medical Education, Hands-on Workshop ‘Skill lab Made Easy’, Workshop on Palliative Care and Curriculum Implementation Support Program and Drafting Skills in Medical Research.

She is involved in teaching medical physiology to MBBS, BDS, Paramedical, Nursing and Postgraduate students. She has performed Cardiac Autonomic Function testing in over 200 patients. She has been an external examiner for various University examinations. She has 22 publications in National and International journals. She is a life member of Association of Physiologists of India (ASSOPI).

She has done several courses including Certificate course in Good Clinical Practice by NIDA Clinical trials Network USA, Certificate course in Essentials of Palliative Care by IAPC from AIIMS New Delhi, Diploma in Community Mental Health from NIMHANS, Bangalore and Foundation course as well as Fellowship in Palliative Care under NAPCAIM.

She has been a member of the organizing committee of several conferences and workshops, including co-organizing chairperson of 1st Inter Medical Physiology Quiz and Simulation workshop and co-organizing secretary of ‘Joint International Conference on Workforce Health and Potential Enhancement Conference’, a joint venture with IIOPM. She is an active member of NGOs involved in various campaigns like Go-Green and Say No to Drugs.

Her areas of interest are Cardiovascular physiology, Autonomic nervous system, Palliative medicine and Medical education.

Professor

Dr Kawalinder Kaur Girgla has completed her MBBS (1994) and MD (2000) in Physiology from Govt. Medical College, Amritsar. She has also done PG Diploma in Medical Trichology from Institute of Laser & Aesthetic Medicine, New Delhi, affiliated to University of Greifswald, Germany

She has completed Certificate course in Principles of Nutrition (Certified Wellness & Nutritional Advisor) affiliated to Nutrilite Health Institute, California, USA, Revised Basic Course Workshop & AETCOM sensitization program of MCI, 3T–IBHS  Bioethics Course of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics(HAIFA), IAP-BLS Instructor course and Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP-2).

She has been teaching Medical, Dental, Nursing and Paramedical students for 19 years. She has been a Reviewer of two textbooks and external Reviewer of MD Thesis as well as  Paper setter for MSc. & BDS. She has 19 Publications in National & International Indexed Journals and was conferred International Psychiatry Research Award 2014 by Photon Foundation USA for original research paper.

Dr. Girgla is life member of several associations like Indian Medical Association (IMA), Association of Physiologists & Pharmacologists of India (APPI), Association of Physiologists of India (ASSOPI), Indian Association of Medical Informatics (IAMI), Indian Red Cross Society, Cosmetology Society of India (CSI) and Society of Biological Scientists of India. She is currently President, NGO Inner Wheel Club Amritsar South and member of the Institutional Medical Simulation Centre management team.

Her fields of interest are Autonomic function Testing and Respiratory Physiology.

 

Professor

Dr. Sukhjinder Kaur Dhillon did her MBBS (1995) and MD (2002) in Physiology from GMC Amritsar. She has also done the Advanced Course in Medical Education in 2015. Presently she is Professor of Physiology at sgrduhs.

She is a member of the MEU, Internship Curriculum Committee, cultural committee and mentor-mentee program of the institute, Nodal officer (Physiology) for Paramedical courses and is involved in teaching  MBBS, BDS and Paramedical students. She has been appointed External Examiner in many institutions.

Dr Dhillon has attended more than 30 conferences and has chaired a paper presentation session and poster presentations in National conferences. She has attended the National Conference on Health Professions Education in 2019 at Belagavi, Karnataka. She is a reviewer of reputed National journals and has more than 20 research publications in Indexed National and International journals. She is a life member of  Society of Basic and Applied Physiology.

Her main research interests include respiratory physiology, cardiovascular physiology and use of latest education technologies like CBL and SDL.

Professor

Dr. Richa Ghay Thaman did MBBS (1994)  and MD (2003) in Physiology from GMC, Amritsar. She is presently Professor of Physiology at sgrduhs.

She did her CMCL FAIMER fellowship in Medical Education and was invited as Regional Centre faculty for onsite FAIMER Program at Philadelphia, USA, in 2017. She is also Resource faculty for the FAIMER Fellowship program and Advanced Course at CMCL. She was  nominated as MCI Observer for Revised Basic Workshop in Medical Education Technologies in different institutes. She is the co-ordinator of GEM-X student exchange program under ECFMG, USA. She is a member of the UG Board of Studies of the University.

She has been invited as speaker and resource person in many National and State conferences and workshops in Physiology and Medical Education. She was Organising Secretary of a number of conferences and workshops - 1st International Inter Medical College Physiology Quiz and Hands on Simulation workshop, Skill Lab made easy–Hands on Workshop and Practical Tips to Prepare and Improve Response to COVID-19 Pandemic. She was Jt organising secretary for 2nd National Postgraduate Meet on Emergency Medical Care and Inter School Quiz on Health Environment Aptitude Learning (HEAL).

Dr Richa  is Editor of Journal ‘Current Trends in Diagnosis and Treatment’ and is on the reviewer board of many journals. She has had her research work published in several reputed journals including Journal of Physiology. She is a life member of ASSOPI, APPI, BMSA, AMEI, AHPE, IMA Societies. She is program head of Cervical Cancer awareness and Environmental health of NGO Phulkari Can WOA.

Her research interests are in gestational DM, nerve conduction studies, gene polymorphisms in infertility and simulation in medical education.

Professor

Dr. Shashi Mahajan did her MBBS (1991) and MD (2005) in Physiology from Government Medical College, Amritsar. Presently she is Professor of Physiology at sgrduhs.

She completed the course in Research Methodology in 2016 under MEU India. She participated in the Revised Basic Course workshop in Medical Education in 2017, competency based medical education: concept and application program in 2019, and the first curriculum implementation support program in 2019. She did the  IAP Basic Life Support course (Provider level) in 2020. She has done a one-year course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management organized by Public Health Foundation of India (International Diabetes Federation).

Dr Mahajan has attended a number of national conferences in Physiology and other specialities. She delivered a guest lecture on Non-pharmacological Management of Diabetes Mellitus in National Diabetes Summit, 2013 and  presented a poster titled ‘Obesity and spirometric ventilatory status in Medical male students of Amritsar’ in a CME under the aegis of Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists in 2017.She has 14 publications in international an d national indexed journals.

She is a team member in management of the institutional Medical Simulation centre and is a member of the Board of Studies - PG Committee.

 

Professor

Dr Roopam Bassi did her MBBS (2002) from Government Medical College, Jammu, and MD  (2006) in Physiology from Government Medical College, Amritsar. Presently,  she is Professor of Physiology at sgrduhs.

She is teaching MBBS, BDS and paramedical students and has  been appointed as External Examiner in many undergraduate Examinations. She has successfully completed the MCI Basic Course Workshop and BLS Program.  She is a member of the Medical Simulation (Skill) Lab and is designing SOPs for various skills. She has also undergone the latest Curriculum Implementation Support Programme (CISP) at the Institution.

Dr Bassi has attended more than 25 International and National Conferences. She has been a Reviewer in International and National Journals and has 18 International and 18 National publications in indexed journals. She is a life member of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Association of Physiologists of India (ASSOPI).

Her areas of interest include oxidative stress studies and in palliative care, and is engaged in several projects in related areas.

Dr. Kiran has done her MBBS (1993) and MD (2000) in Physiology from Government Medical College, Amritsar. Presently she is Professor of Physiology in sgrduhs.

She has done the basic course in Research Methodology and Basic Life Support Course. She has attended many basic sciences and clinical conferences and CMEs. She was a guest speaker in SOBSICON-2015 and was a panelist in IPASM, Punjab chapter.   

Dr Kiran has 15 publications in indexed national and international journals. She was conferred with International Psychiatry Research Award 2014 for original research on ‘Effect  of Rajyoga Meditation on Heart Rate and Blood Pressure in Patients of Anxiety and Depression’, Journal of Physiology and Health by Photon Foundation USA. She is a life member of Associations of Physiologists of India.

She has special interest in the role of meditation in stress and stress related diseases.

 

Professor

Dr Manjeet Kaur did MBBS (1991) from NSCB Medical College Jabalpur and MD (2004)  in Physiology from Government Medical College, Amritsar. Presently, she is Professor of Physiology at sgrduhs, Amritsar.

She has attended more than 25 international and national conferences. She is a reviewer in many International and National Journals and has been appointed as External Examiner in many medical and paramedical examinations.

She has 12 International and 11 National publications in indexed journals.

Dr Manjeet Kaur is Life Member of Association of Physiologists of India and Indian Medical Association.

She has special interest in behavioural psychology, spirituality and physiology of yoga and meditation.

 

Professor

Dr. Parminder Kaur Sandhu did MBBS (2001) from Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore, house job in Paediatrics from General Hospital, Chandigarh, and MD (2007) in Physiology from Government Medical College, Patiala. Presently, she is Professor of Physiology at SGRD.

She has attended many Basic Sciences and Clinical conferences and workshops like research methodology held nationally. She has also done a Basic Life Support Course in 2020.

Dr Gill has 20 publications in various national and international medical journals. She has reviewed many articles published in physiology journals. She is a lifetime member of Society of Basic and Applied Physiology (SBAP).  

She has a special interest in Excretory and Endocrine physiology.

 

Professor

Dr Dimple Bajaj did MBBS (1999) from Govt Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala, with internship and house job in Medicine at GGS Medical College, Faridkot,  and MD (2007) in Physiology from Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla. After six months residency in GMCH, Chandigarh, she joined sgrduhs and presently  is Professor of Physiology.

She is teaching various Medical, Dental and Paramedical students and has been appointed as external examiner in MBBS and BDS examinations. She has attended many basic sciences and clinical workshops (Research Methodology and Basic Life Support) and conferences organized throughout India.

Dr Bajaj has reviewed many articles published in Physiology journals. She has 24 National and International publications in indexed journals.

She is a life member of Society of Basic and Applied Physiology.  She has done research work on lung function tests in asthmatic females
