Association

In the State of Punjab, there are two unaided Sikh minority medical and dental colleges, namely,

• Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Sri Amritsar
• Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, Sri Amritsar

Being of one type of minority institutions with similar characteristic situation in respect to mode of admission, both these Institutes are very much different from other private un-aided Medical/Dental colleges in the State. In the year 2004, these two Institutes had formed a separate group, named as Association of Un-aided Sikh Minority Medical and Dental Institutions. This arrangement had been done in accordance with the law laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the Islamic Academy of Education case by its order dated 14.8.2003.
