Department of Pharmacology


Pharmacology department is imparting teaching and training to 150 undergraduates and 4 post graduates per year. The department provides information regarding right use of drugs, drug-drug interaction and side effects by using model technique for teaching like animated videos and power point presentations. The department offers training in pharmacology to both undergraduate and various research projects for post graduate students, who may subsequently go on to exciting research, regulatory and administrative careers in academic, industrial and healthcare setups. The goal is to prepare exceptional students for productive and successful careers in pharmaceutical industry, academia, research and public sectors. Department provides an exciting environment for postgraduate training with seminar presentations, group discussions, case reports, journal clubs and a research laboratory with excellent facilities for post graduate experimentation and research work.

There are two spacious laboratories, one Pharmacy laboratory, where students are taught about preparation of formulations and second experimental pharmacology laboratory, where students learn about effects of drugs on experimental animals by using computer assisted learning techniques. A Computer Aided Learning laboratory with 60 functional platforms and required software to perform experiments on different animal models is already established. Department also provides information regarding right use of drugs, drug-drug interaction, side effects by using model technique for teaching like animated videos and power point presentations.

A huge museum consisting of various drug samples, monographs, charts, models, pictures depicting history of pharmacology, biographies of scientists is present in the department.

Pharmacovigilance Centre being run by Pharmacology department is approved as AMC for participation in pharmacovigilance program of India.

A departmental library/seminar room with 150 books and journals and two demonstration rooms for under graduate students.

A research laboratory with excellent facilities for post graduate experimentation and research work. Department provides an exciting environment for postgraduate training with seminar presentations, group discussions, case reports and journal clubs.

Department is progressing forward by providing quality education that effectively integrates critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills in students.

Vision

The department is striving towards providing quality education that effectively integrates critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills. Following objectives obtain priority in the departmental activities:

  • Equipping the students with the best of pharmacy, clinical, scientific, professional and managerial knowledge and skills.
  • Providing services to the industry and the community by participating in sponsored research projects, consultation or development of new technologies aimed at addressing the needs of the pharmaceutical industry and the Drug information center.
  • Up gradation of departmental teaching skills by motivating faculty members to attend International conferences.
  • Establishment of creative academic environment which encourage faculty members to perform preclinical research & development.
