Professor & Head

Dr. Gursharan Singh did his MBBS (1998) from Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot and MD (2002) in Pediatrics from PGI Chandigarh. He joined sgrduhs as senior resident and is currently Professor Incharge of Unit-II Pediatrics and Incharge of the  Thalassemia ward.

He is the nodal officer of Pulse Polio (AFP) surveillance program for the last 10 years. He has organized many workshops and has  attended many conferences as guest lecturer and chairperson. He has been an external examiner for undergraduates and postgraduates. He has various publications in national and international journals.

Dr Gursharan is a life member of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and Indian Medical Association (IMA). He has  been executive member of IAP Amritsar branch for 4 years and currently is vice-president IAP Amritsar. He is Finance Secretary Elect of IAP Punjab. 

He is interested in the field of Neonatology.

 

Professor

Dr. Gurpreet Singh Chhabra did his MBBS (1999) and MD (2004) Pediatrics from GMC, Amritsar. He joined as SR and is presently Professor in the Department of Pediatrics.

He has completed basic and advanced NRP training under the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. He is a full-fledged instructor for BLS course of IAP. He has participated in two National ToTs conducted by IAP of ‘Under 5 Wheezers’ and ‘WAR- Write Antimicrobials Responsibly’.

Dr. Chhabra has attended various national conferences and workshops. He has various publications in national and international journals. He is a life member of IAP and is actively associated with the local branch. He is Executive member of Satluj Academy of Pediatrics, State body, 2020.

His area of special interest is Adolescent Health. 

 

Professor

Dr. Gurmeet Singh passed his MBBS (2000) from Govt. Medical College Amritsar and his MD (2003) in Pediatrics from Govt. Medical College Patiala. He joined sgrduhs in 2003 and is currently Professor of Pediatrics.

has attended many International and National conferences and has chaired sessions. He has been appointed examiner in post graduate and undergraduate examinations in the state as well as outside.

He has been a thesis guide to many postgraduate students. He has 13 International and National publications in indexed journals and has paper and poster presentations in various conferences. He has been a part of the organizing team of various conferences. He is an active member of NABH inspection committee and Student Council Committee in the institute.

Dr Gurmeet is a life member of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Breast-Feeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI).

He has special interest in pediatric endocrinology and nutrition.

 

Professor

Dr Mandeep Singh Khurana did MBBS (1998) from GMC, Amritsar and MD (2004) in Pediatrics from KIMS, Karad. Presently, he is Professor of Pediatrics  at sgrduhs.                                                      

He has attended many national and international conferences, has chaired sessions and has been panelist. He has been a thesis guide to several PG students. He has been part of the organizing team of various conferences, and is also part of various committees of the institute.

Dr Khurana has 12 publications in national and international indexed journals. He is a life member of Indian Academy of Pediatrics.

He has special interest in pediatric gastroenterology and neonatology.

 

Professor

Dr Preeti Malhotra passed MBBS (1998) from JNMC Belgaum and MD (2002) in Pediatrics from PGI, Chandigarh. She joined sgrduhs in 2006 as senior resident   and is presently Professor of Pediatrics.

She has completed the Advanced Medical Education course and has been part of the IAP task force for the CBME 2019 document. She is a member of the curriculum committee as well as simulation and skill lab of the institute, and is a core member of the college thesis committee. She has been an external examiner for undergraduates.

Dr Malhotra has attended as well as organized several workshops, and has been guest lecturer and chairperson in many conferences. She has several publications in national and international journals and has also written a chapter in the IAP textbook of Tropical Diseases on ‘Epidemiology of viral infections’. She is a life member of IAP and IMA. She is also an active member of the Infectious chapter group of IAP and an executive member of IAP Amritsar branch.

Her area of interest is in the field of Neonatology.

 

Associate Professor

Dr Naresh Kumar did his MBBS (1987) and MD (1996) in Pediatrics from Govt. Medical College Amritsar. He has served in Government Health Services for 28 years. He joined SGRD as Assistant Professor in 2017 and is presently Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics.

He has 5 publications in National and International Journals and 10 case reports in various journals and has attended many conferences as guest lecturer and chairperson. He has been a thesis guide of many postgraduate students.

Dr Naresh is a Life member of IAP and IMA. He was an executive member of IAP Amritsar branch for the last 5 years and is at present Treasurer of the branch.

 He is interested in the field of Neonatology

 

Associate Professor

Dr Ashwani Kumar did his MBBS (2005) from sgrduhs, Amritsar and MD (2012) in Paediatrics from Govt. Medical College, Patiala. Presently, he is working as Assistant Professor of Paediatrics at SGRD.

He has attended various conferences, workshops and seminars. He has published 9 publications in various indexed journals. He is a life member of Indian Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr Ashwani has delivered a talk on ‘Vitamin D in children-Role beyond bones’ in an International Conference - 2nd edition of Euro-global Conference on Paediatrics and Neonatology in London.

He has interest in General Paediatrics.

 

Assistant Professor

Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur did her MBBS (2001) from Govt. Medical College, Bellary, Karnataka and DNB  (2010) in Pediatrics from Jaipur Golden Hospital, New Delhi.

She worked as Senior Resident in the department of pediatrics at sgrduhs for three years with one year dedicated duty in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She is presently Assistant Professor in the department of Pediatrics at SGRD. She has successfully completed NALS, PALS and ALS courses.

Dr Sukhdeep Kaur has 2 research publications, 1 each in International and National indexed journals.

She is a life member of Indian Academy of Pediatrics and National Neonatology Forum (Punjab State Chapter).
