Department of Physiology
Physiology the study of functions of living organisms and the knowledge of various mechanisms of life at cellular and molecular level. It is taught as a part of medical curriculum during first year of the course and is also integrated with multiple medical subjects.
The Department of Physiology is one of the cornerstones of medical education. It provides strong scientific foundation upon which future Physicians build their clinical knowledge, professional competence to patient care. The department is committed to excellence in teaching, training and research based on competency based medical education. We strive to cultivate lifelong learning among undergraduate and postgraduate students through innovative teaching methodologies in the form of interactive lectures, practical sessions, demonstrations, small group teaching, self-directed learning, seminars, early clinical exposure, assignments, tutorials and research activities.
The most valuable resource of our department is the Academic staff, consisting of highly versatile and dedicated team of faculty members. Many members of the academic staff have been conferred with awards for their outstanding work.
The department has been gradually upgraded to present statues by experienced faculty. Physiology department provides teaching and training to medical, dental and various allied healthcare course students of the university. Beyond teaching, the department is actively involved in research and innovations by faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students. Some of the areas of research include cardiovascular physiology, neurophysiology, respiratory physiology.
The department also guides PhD Scholars. All the students are regularly evaluated by means of formative assessment, class tests, seminars, assignments, tutorials, term and send up examination before their university examinations.
The department is equipped with modern lecture theatres, seminar room, demonstration rooms, department library, Research lab, Clinical Physiology Lab, Haematology Lab and Mammalian Lab. All the teaching is done as per NMC guidelines with the help of modern teaching aids and audio-visual facilities.
The department is actively involved in continuous medical education, research and plays a vital role in shaping future healthcare professionals. The vision of the department is to provide one of the best physiology infrastructures for medical education.
