Professor & Head

Dr. Priyanka Devgun did her MBBS (1999) and MD (2004) in Community Medicine from GMC, Amritsar. After serving at DMCH, Ludhiana for some time, she joined sgrduhs in 2004.

She has undergone basic and the revised basic medical teachers’ training workshops. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Health and Hospital Management from IGNOU at Command Hospital, Panchkula.

Dr Devgun has supervised and co-supervised the thesis work of 10 MD students apart from 6 PhD candidates from various paramedical streams. She has participated as a resource person in over 30 state, national and international conferences. She was the Organizing Chairperson of 3 state conferences of Punjab chapter of IAPSM at SGRD in 2013, 14 and 16 and 2nd Punjab Chapter of IAAH in 2019. She is a member of the Institutional Research Committee and Board of PG studies for many years. She has been instrumental in conducting state level manpower training in collaboration with the State Ministry of Social Security, Women and Child Department, Punjab and Registrar General of India in collaboration with AIIMS in 2014 and 2020 respectively.

She has over 65 research and review publications in various indexed national and international journals. She is a reviewer for 2 indexed national journals and is on the Editorial Board of the official publication of the Punjab chapter of IAPSM. She is a life member of  Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) and Indian Association of Adolescent Health  (IAAH).

Her special interests include epidemiology and biostatistics.

Professor

Dr. Harpreet Kaur did her MBBS (1997) from GMC Amritsar and MD (2008) in Community Medicine from DMCH, Ludhiana. Presently, she is Professor in the Department of Community Medicine, SGRD.

She has attended and   chaired   scientific   sessions at various National/Regional Conferences and Workshops, and has presented papers and posters. She has done Basic Course and Revised Basic Course Workshop in Medical Education Technologies. She is well versed with sample size determination and also data analysis using SPSS. She has more than 17 publications in indexed national and international journals. She has been Organising Secretary of State level Conferences held at   SGRD, Amritsar.

She participated in field operations of   baseline evaluation of IMNCI in   District Kaithal, Haryana, and has acted as resource person for conducting training of Anganwadi workers at SGRD, Amritsar. She was a part of manpower training of part time enumerator project undertaken by Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab.

Dr. Harpreet is a life member of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM), Indian Public Health Association (IPHA), Indian Association of Adolescent Health (IAAH), National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH and Integrative Medicine (NAPCAIM).

She has special interest in Maternal and Child Health.

Professor

Dr. Amanpreet Kaur did her MBBS (2004) from DMCH Ludhiana and MD (2010) in Community Medicine from GMC Patiala. She has also done Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management from IGNOU, Delhi in 2019. Presently she is Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at SGRD.

She has done Basic course and Revised Basic Course in Medical Education Technologies. She has got extensive training in R programming, SPSS and Excel. She has attended various National and International conferences, chaired sessions, and has presented 3 papers and 1 poster. She was a part of the organizing team of various conferences held in the Institute.

Dr. Amanpreet has been a part of manpower training of Anganwadi workers and Part time enumerator sponsored by Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab and Registrar General of India in collaboration with AIIMS.

She has 20 research publications in various National and International indexed journals. She is Editorial Board member of Science journal of Public Health and reviewer of International Journal of Community Medicine and Public Health. She is Life member of several Societies/ Associations, including Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, Indian Public Health Association, Epidemiological Foundation of India and Indian Association of Adolescent Health.

She has special interest in the field of Nutrition and health and Biostatistics.

 

Professor

Dr. Manisha Nagpal did MBBS (1994) from Pt. B D Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak and MD (2012) from sgrduhs, Amritsar. She is presently Professor of Community Medicine.

She has done Basic Course, Revised Basic Course, Curriculum Implementation Support Programme and Advanced Course in Medical Education in Medical Education Technologies. She has also done certificate course in Research Methodology from Indian Institute of Public Health. Also completed Basic Course in Biomedical Research from ICMR/NIE Mar – Jun 2020. She participated in manpower training as a Part time enumerator sponsored by Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab. She completed the Foundation Course in Palliative Medicine and Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care in 2019. She has extensive training in SPSS, Sample size determination and Excel.

She has attended many conferences and workshops and has 15 research publications in various National/International journals. She has presented a paper (best paper award) and 1 poster in National conferences. She has authored chapters in the books entitled ‘Advances in Health and Disease’ and ‘Challenges in Disease and Health Research’.

She is a life member of Indian public health association (IPHA), Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM), Indian Association of Adolescent Health (IAAH), Epidemiological Foundation of India (EFI) and National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH & Integrative Medicine (NAPCAIM).

Currently she is an editorial board member of ‘International Journal of Public Health and Epidemiology Research’ and reviewer of ‘Current Journal of Applied Science and Technology’.  She has special interest in medical education.

 

Professor

Dr Pooja Verma did her MBBS (1999) from GMC Nagpur and MD (2013) in Community Medicine from GMC, Amritsar.  She is presently Professor of Community Medicine and incharge of the immunization department at SGRD.

She has undergone training in Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme and Behaviour Change Communication. She completed the Certificate course in Research Methodology from Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar. She has undergone a course on Basic life support conducted by IAP. She has completed Basic course, Revised Basic Course in Medical Education Technologies and Curriculum implementation support programme (CISP). She attended the State Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign workshop and Vaccinology workshop in Chandigarh.  She completed the Foundation Course in Palliative Medicine and Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care in 2019. She got extensive training in SPSS and Excel. Also completed Basic Course in Biomedical Research from ICMR/NIE Mar – Jun 2020

Dr Pooja has attended more than 50 International and National Conferences. She received the best paper award for paper presentation in 9th Annual conference, IAPSM, Punjab chapter. She has 15 International and National publications in indexed journals.

She is Life Member of several Societies/Associations, including Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM), Epidemiological Foundation of India (EFI)and National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH & Integrative Medicine (NAPCAIM).

Her area of special interest is research in Tuberculosis.

Professor

Dr. Harjot Singh did MBBS (2010) and MD (2016) in Community Medicine from SGRDIMSR, Amritsar. He did International Fellowship in Palliative Care from WHO Collaborating Centre, Kozhikode, Kerala in 2019. He is currently Associate Professor of Community Medicine at SGRDIMSR, Amritsar.

He has attended more than 30 National Conferences as faculty and also Chaired Sessions in International conferences. He has more than 10 National publications.

He is Course Coordinator for Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care conducted by Indian Association of Palliative Care. He is Secretary of National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH and Integrative Medicine Punjab Chapter. He is International Coordinator for Foundation and Fellowship program under NAPCAIM.

Dr Harjot is Incharge of Biomedical waste Management of Hospital. He is also Incharge of the Laundry Department, Lift Department and Fire Fighting Department of Hospital. He is serving as Medical Officer Incharge at Rural Health and Training Centre, Mallunangal including 11 villages. He is Nodal Officer for National Academy of Depository (NAD) from SGRDUHS.

He is a Life member of Indian Association Preventive and Social Medicine, India Association Of Public Health, Indian Medical Association, Epidemiology Foundation of India, Red Cross, Association for Health Systems Analysis and Strengthening, Indian Association of Palliative Care and International Association of Hospice and Palliative Care.   

He has special interest in Palliative, Hospice care and Pain Management.

Dr Sanyogita did her MBBS (1997) from MGIMS Wardha, Nagpur and MD (2013) in Community Medicine from GMC, Amritsar. Presently she is Associate Professor in Department of Community Medicine and College nodal officer of One Health under joint Initiative of IAPSM and ICMR.

Before joining SGRD in 2021 she served as State TOT under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram at Health and Family Welfare Training centre, Amritsar and as Medical Officer in PNDT cell at Civil Surgeon Office Amritsar. She did her three-year Senior Residency from GMC, Amritsar.

She has completed Revised Basic Course in Medical Education Technologies and Basic Course in Biomedical Research from ICMR/NIE April 2022. She has attended many national and international conferences and presented poster in 24th North Zone IAPSM conference.

She is Life Member of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM)

Her area of special interest is research in Maternal and Child Health.

Dr Vimmi Gupta completed her MBBS (2008) from RGUHS Kar, and her MD (2017) in Community Medicine at BFUHS, Faridkot

Dr. Navpreet Kaur completed her MBBS from Adesh University, Bathinda in 2018 and obtained her MD in Community Medicine from Government Medical College, Amritsar in 2023. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine.

She completed her three-year Senior Residency in the Department of Community Medicine at Government Medical College, Amritsar, where she gained extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, public health research, and community-based healthcare services. She has also successfully completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research conducted by ICMR–National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE).

She has actively participated in numerous national and international scientific conferences and has presented oral and poster papers, including at the 15th Annual Conference of the IAPSM Punjab Chapter (2022). She has published several research articles in national and international indexed journals, with research interests focusing on preventive and promotive healthcare.

Her academic achievements include securing First Position in the PG Quiz at the 25th Annual Conference of the North Zone Chapter of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (2022) and Second Position in the World AIDS Day Quiz Competition (2022) organized by Government Medical College, Amritsar.

She is a Life Member of the Indian Association of Preventive & Social Medicine (IAPSM) and the Amritsar Medical College Alumni Association. In December 2025, she completed the Training of Trainers for Integrated One Health Training on Prevention and Control of Zoonotic Diseases at AIIMS Bathinda, further strengthening her expertise in the One Health approach to disease prevention and control.

Her areas of academic and research interest include non-communicable diseases, lifestyle modification, preventive medicine, health promotion, epidemiology, and public health research. She is committed to excellence in medical education, research, and community-oriented healthcare, with a focus on promoting evidence-based practices and improving population health outcomes.

Epidemiologist Cum Assistant Professor

Dr. Amrit Pal Singh Brar did his MBBS (1992) from Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana and MD (2018) in Community Medicine from sgrduhs, Amritsar. He has more than 10 years of experience as a Registrar in the department of Anesthesia and Psychiatry. Presently he is Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine.

He has completed the Foundation Course in Palliative Care and also Basic Course in Biomedical Research by ICMR, India. He has undergone hands-on training on Data Analysis using SPSS by Quest International University, Malaysia. He has more than 5 International and National publications in indexed journals and has attended more than 18 International and National conferences.

Dr. Amrit Pal Singh Brar is a life member of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, and life member as well as Vice President of Indian Association of Palliative Care for Ayush and Integrative Medicine.

He has special interest  in geriatrics and dealing with mental issues in ‘end of life’ patients.
