Department of Medicine - Facilities
- Department of Medicine has 6 units with total 180 beds. Separate male and female wards are available. Routine procedures like pleurocentesis and pleural biopsy, Ascitic tap, Lumbar Puncture, Bone Marrow Aspiration and biopsy, Liver biopsy, Kidney biopsy and Intra articular injections are routinely carried out here.
- There is a separate Medical OPD complex attached to the hospital with total of four rooms. Old and new medicine patients are routinely examined and treated. Super specialty clinics (Gastroenterology, Neurology, Cardiology and Nephrology) are running under the supervision of various super specialists.
- A 10 bedded fully equipped Medical ICU is running in the department of Medicine. Each bed is equipped with bed side cardiac monitor, defibrillator and infusion pump with continuous nursing care. 2 ventilators are available in medical ICU.
- There is a departmental library with 301 books. Reference books, Journal, Text books are available in the library. Library has adequate sitting arrangement. New books are added every year to keep the library updated.
- There is one spacious seminar room with sitting capacity for 50 students Multimedia facilities (1slide projector and 1 overhead projector) is available for the slide presentations. Seminars, Journal Club, Case presentations and another academic activities are regularly being carried out.
- There is one class room per ward for postgraduate and undergraduate teaching with adequate sitting capacity.
- There are two air conditioned lecture theatres of 150 students capacity with multimedia facilities.
- There are twelve ECG machines which are routinely being used for ward and OPD patients.
- There are two Echocardiography machine (Portable Philips CX50 & Stable Vivid GE E95) in the department. 2D Echo, M mode, Doppler is routinely done. Pediatric Echocardiography is also available.
- There is one TMT (Tread Mill Test) machine (GE Case 2100) in the department. Stress tests are being regularly carried out.
- There is a fully functioning Hemodialysis unit under nephrology with 5HD, 2HDF, 1 SLED machine. 1 CRRT machine with High functional RO unit capable for providing ultrapure water supply is also available. Every month 400-500 HD procedures are carried out in the hemodialysis unit. Procedures like SLED, CRRT, Plasma exchange, Hemoperfusion, HDF are also being carried out under supervision of Nephrologists & trained staff.
- There is a video EEG 32 channel machine in the department. EEG is being routinely done for various neurological and psychiatric disorders. NCS (Nerve Conduction studying), EMG (Electromyography), VEP (Visual Evoked potential), Lumber Puncture are routinely done in the department.
- Upper GI and Lower GI endoscopy is done in the department. Two upper GI endoscopies processor (EP-6000 and EG-760R) are available. Routine endoscopies both diagnostic and therapeutic are done. Research work is done using this instrument. Paediatric endoscope (EG-740N), ERCP scope (ED-580X7) is also available in the department.
- Colonoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy (EC-720RL) are routinely done in the department for various gut disorders.
- Bronchoscopy is being carried out in the department. Brush biopsy, endobronchial biopsy, bronchoalveolar lavage, foreign body removal is carried out routinely. Bronchoscopic intubation is being regularly done. Research work is done using this instrument.
- Spirometry with DLCO is being done in the department. Computerized Spirometry with DLCO with all parameters is available. Inter - coastal chest tube drainage, Pleural aspirations and Pleural biopsies are being done in department.
