Department of Radiology

The Department of Radiodiagnosis is having following infrastructure and faculty as per NMC guidelines.

Presently the department of Radiodiagnosis is equipped with machinery like 1.5T MRI (Philips intra Achieva) and 32 slice MDCT (Simens Somatom Scope). Within a couple of months there is upgradation of MRI from 1.5Tesla to 3.0Tesla MRI Magnetom Vida – 204 x 64 Channel (XQ Engine) 3Tesla AI MR scanner from siemens healthcare Ltd. a state-of-the-art equipment with special consideration of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. There is going to upgradation of CT from 32 slice MDCT to 384 slice Somatom go top –spectral advanced cardiac CT from siemens healthcare Ltd.

Inspite of above facilities we have Digital Subtraction Angiography (Allengers), Ultrasound elastography with fibro scan facilities (Samsung V8 state of art), Color Doppler (Philips, GE), Ultrasonography (Simens, GE), Digital Mammography (Allengers) and Digital / Computed Radiography (Konika) systems and Conventional investigations like Barium and IVP studies with time-to-time hardware / software upgradation contracts with the companies.

The Department provides 24 hours services as well as emergency services; including its medicolegal aspects by competent faculty members as well as junior residents and senior residents.

The department is fully equipped for basic as well as advanced Interventional procedures like USG/CT guided FNAC, Biopsies and drainage procedures (for diagnosis and therapeutic management). Recently, the department started additional facilities like “Varicose vein ablation procedures” with excellent post-procedural results. Also, the special “Chemoport procedure” is recently inducted especially for the drug delivery to the chronically ill patients like Cancer patients.

The regular teaching classes i.e. Theory classes, CME, seminar, Journal Club meetings, Case presentation studies and spotter evaluation of Undergraduate & Postgraduate is carried out by the faculty members of Department of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging through multimedia projectors with quarterly assessments. Special consideration is there for the theory and practical classes of BSc. RIT and Diploma Students. Monthly subject wise test is conducted for evaluation of the students.

Knowledge in the subspecialties of radiology such as neuroradiology, GI-radiology, Uroradiology, vascular radiology, musculoskeletal and pediatric radiology provided in collaboration with the respective clinical departments by arranging interdepartmental meetings and symposiums.
